Reiki means “universal life energy”, and is an non-religious healing art developed by Dr MikaoUsui Sensei in Japan in the early 20th century. The practitioner places their hands on or slightly above the body; usually starting at the head and working down to the feet during a whole body treatment and sometimes focuses on a particular area. During a Reiki treatment, you remain fully clothed and can be in any position. You find comfortable. You may have your eyes open or closed and the practitioner may play soothing music or dim the lights for added relaxation .During the treatment you may feel a tingling sensation, warmth or coolness throughout your body, possibly directly above the practitioner’s hands and a very deep sense of relaxation.
• Be deeply relaxing on all levels – physical, emotional and mental
• Enhance mood
• Aid sleep
• Improve the ability to cope
• Calm the mind and body
A treatment can last from 30 minutes up to one hour and you are encouraged to rest after
a session. Reiki may be given as a course or as a single treatment.
